FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team outscored Kansas City, 26-13, in the fourth quarter to help secure an 86-75 win on Thursday night at Scheels Center.
With the win, the Bison snapped a three-game losing skid and improved to 15-10 (9-6 Summit) on the season, including a 10-1 mark at home. Kansas City drops to 7-19 (3-12 Summit) with the loss.
After trailing 62-60 entering the third quarter, NDSU battled back to steal the lead, 68-66, following a triple from Heaven Hamling with 7:12 to play. The Bison then assembled a momentum-shifting 8-2 run to open up a 76-68 edge after Emily Behnke netted a layup with 4:13 remaining. NDSU went on to hold off Kansas City the rest of way to earn the 86-75 win.
Hamling posted a team-high 21 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter. She shot 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-8 from three to go along with a game-high five assists. Elle Evans notched her ninth straight game in double figures with 18 points, while Abby Schulte tied a season-high 13 points. Behnke registered her fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 13 rebounds and 12 points. Abby Graham closed out the group with 11 points off the bench.
As a team, the Bison shot 51.7 percent (31-60) from the field and 40.9 percent (9-22) from three. NDSU also connected on 42 points in the paint and 17 points off of turnovers.
NDSU will be back in action hosting Oral Roberts on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m. at Scheels Center.
