FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University men’s track & field team will send four qualifiers to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas, on June 7. The four Bison advanced by earning top-12 finishes at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Sacramento, Calif., last week.
Trevor Otterdahl (hammer throw), Matt Kraft (javelin), Benji Phillips (javelin), and Jacob Rodin (800m) will all compete on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, June 7, at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas.
- 2:30 p.m. CT – Hammer throw
- 5:30 p.m. CT – Javelin
- 8:14 p.m. CT – 800m semifinals
If Rodin can finish among the top eight runners in the 800m semifinals on Wednesday, he will advance to the national finals on Friday, June 9, at 9:14 p.m. CT.
Based on season-best marks among the qualifiers, Otterdahl will be the highest-ranked Bison entering the national meet at No. 10 in the hammer throw. Phillips is 16th and Kraft is 20th among the javelin entries, and Rodin is No. 21 on the season performance list for the 800m NCAA Championships qualifiers.
Rodin will become the first Bison man to compete at the NCAA Division I Championships in an individual running event. He was a member of the NDSU 4x400m relay that broke the school record in placing 18th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last year.
