FARGO, ND: Many programs had already made the move to postpone their football seasons and fall sports in general. opting instead to attempt to play in the spring of 2021. North Dakota State had already had their fall sports in the Summit League moved to the spring and their conference games in the Missouri Valley Football Conference had already been moved but on Friday they made the tough decision to move the entire football schedule to the spring.
Throughout the week the Bison football team had been practicing in preparations for possible non-conference games this fall even though they would not have a conference season. However those non-conference games will no longer happen either as the university has decided to turn their attention to the spring.
With this move NDSU joins Illinois st, Indiana St, Northern Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota State as MVFC schools that have officially announced they are moving all their football games to the spring. NDSU did not have any games scheduled for the non-conference season and games were getting harder to fin with teams and conferences across the country pushing everything to the spring.
Many decisions are still to be made with how a spring season would work and more information will come on that over the next few months.
